The unprecedented and imposing 5-way Dance Stack
Funktion-One
have always had a love of dance music. Tony Andrews' loudspeaker
designs from the 1970s and 80s were mostly designed using funk
music from James Brown, Sly Stone, Parliament etc. In response
to the reaction of the current dance world suggesting a "no
holds barred" design approach we enthusiastically developed
a sonically and visually imposing "stack" of matched
components to provide the dance world with what we think it will
enjoy.
Fundamentally
the dance stack is a five way system with sub bass, bass, mid-bass,
mid range and high frequency. It uses 24dB/octave crossover slopes
and time alignment. Equalisation, being an unnecessary evil, is
not required.
To make sure of the low end we have a newly designed 2 x 18"
Infrabass (patent pending) dealing with the "weight"
part of the bass from 20Hz to 50Hz. A pair of F218s supply the
"punch" of the bass from 45Hz to 100Hz, whereupon we
move to a newly evolved horn loaded 15" which takes care
of upper bass and low mid, the "speed" part, from 100Hz
to 200Hz. The new Funktion One 10" axheads, which handle
from 200Hz right up to 5KHz, provide the mid range power to match
the exceptional low end combination. The remaining high frequencies
are handled by our outstanding 1" compression driver.
The system offers an unprecedented level of power combined with
a breath taking transparency and purity even right down in the
bass and on top of this an imposing hi tech visual appearance. |
